Look at my pride and joys! I couldn't believe I found a moment where the kids weren't fighting...it had to be documented!
This was from quite a bit ago over the summer, but I could resist posting it.

We had a chance to hit the beach, and Sea world with the Corbins a couple months ago! It was so great, and I have more pictures to post of our time at the San Diego temple. For now I will just post these pics of Owen and his best buddy, Bentley! So cute.

Gearing up for our non stop flight to Cour De Alene, ID. Kids were great, and so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa!!

We loved relaxing on their hammock! It was the first thing we did outside.

I mean HONESTLY, look at my mother in law's garden!! I can't even keep my cactus alive :( She has red, and yellow raspberry bushes and the cutest miniature strawberries
Awwe, the smell of her cilantro was so amazing! But my fav is actually her Swiss chard...yummy!

We spent a couple days downtown at a annual art fair 'Art on the Green". It spans about 3 miles along the downtown strip, which happens to also be on the lake. So we would shop, swim, eat, then shop some more!!

We spent a relaxing Sunday afternoon sitting on at Honeysuckle Beach

My absolute favorite memory was the Michael Buble concert. It was fabulous, and I have a new crush :)

We spent a fun day at Silverwood Theme Park. Just a really fun, mini Disneyland!

Funny story: We head out for a two hour drive to go rafting, and floating on the river. An hour into the drive we loose his parents, and brother for a full hour on the road. This is us stranded with no reception, and NO idea where we were going. We eventually were found by his dad...woo hoo!

After tubing we just vegged on this beach! Heaven

Mikes sister was passing through town, so we got to see her for literally 10 minutes at this McDonald's. Sad!

These pictures make me want to vomit...beware!

We have desperately been trying to catch these "mice" for months. (First off these aren't mice they are monster rats...possibly half bunny??? Secondly, had no idea it was a family. And yes I do feel bad about the baby.) We have sticky traps EVERYWHERE! Who knew all you needed was a kiddie pool to catch them. Lesson learned, don't ever live on, or near a mountain.

My fabulous, talented, hard working husband won a sales contest for work...and won us a trip to Cali! My jaw dropped when we pulled into this hotel! Never in my life could we ever to afford to come here again, but we sure enjoyed it. We were spoiled to say the least, and every moment was worth missing the kids for 4 great days! Thanks Mom for watching the kids.

Owen and his buddy Cooper have made it a habit of running off with my wagon at the park. Today I found it under the play gym, and hidden behind a bush. Last time it was on the play gym almost ready to go down a slide. Pretty funny!

I love spring in Arizona! It, in my opinion, is the most colorful and beautiful time of year! The last two springs we have been lucky enough to witness a real birds nest being built, eggs being laid, and baby birds hatching! Oddly enough I have a wreath on my door with fake nests attached...apparently a perfect decoy for a real one!! We now have 4 of the cutest blue eggs I have ever seen. I will keep you updated as the baby birds arrive :) The other thing I love about spring is the inspiration to create! I have been crafting away, and I CANNOT stop. My mother asked me to document the madness, so I added all my recent decorations and creations!3 decoy nests The real deal !!

Blog Neglect

At this point does anyone even fallow my blog anymore? I hate when people fall off the face of the earth with no explanation! I guess life is my only explanation this time. I am not even gonna bother with the catch-up photos. I will just simply pick up where we are today :) Life is good! We are happy, kids are growing, and things are changing. Mike has had some job changes that are confusing to say the least! No point in explaining, he is employed! I am enjoying motherhood, crafting, and our recent travel to Spokane!

Couldn't you just die over my new shoes??? They are loud, but fabulous. I love the color, the ruffles, everything. Except for the comfort level...little painful.

Well beyond the shoes, my big 29 was a success. I started the day with emptying poo out of Owen's big boy underwear, and I thought "another b-day down the tubes". Not the case! Mike surprised me and took the rest of the day off, and then surprised me with 2 really cute tops from J Crew. I mean come on...who's husbands can shop for their wives, and get it right? We then dropped off the kiddos, and ate (alone) at Cheesecake Factory. It gets better...they had a coupon for a free $8 piece of cheesecake. Yes, it was great! I loved every well wish, every happy birthday song, every gift, and every moment I spent with the people I love.

T-Ball : Go Sluggers!!

We have tried our hardest to expose Owen to everything that we can. How else will you ever know what your children are into, and good at? T-ball has been our recent adventure. He is playing for team Sluggers, and he is number 13! I wish I could say that he loves it, but I am not sure that baseball is in his future. I asked him today if he loved baseball, and he sweetly looked at me and said "NO!". We also quite frequently find him laying on the bases after he has walked (not run) to them. He is so silly! It has been fun to watch him, and get him involved in a team atmosphere. Sadly, I think he will retire from his t-ball career this year :)

Vegas Baby

Mike and I (no kids) enjoyed a looong weekend in Vegas. It was so much fun. I unfortunately forgot my camera...but google had a lot of photo options to steal :)

Honestly, I was excited but not sure what to expect. We first opted not to do any shows to save some money while we were there, but that went out the window the minute we realized there was nothing else to do except shop, gamble, eat, and drink. So we decided to see Phantom of the Opera, and it was AMAZING. Some lady near us commented that this was her 10th, and best time seeing this show! We also saw Cirque De Soile's, Mystere'. That was also very cool, not the best show I have ever seen...but very cool, and unique! Other than that we shopped more than we should have, ate at Cafe Rio one too many times, watched the Billagio Water Show and Volcano explosion more than I ever cared to, and slept through the night for the first time in 12 months!!!! It was great, would recommend anyone who has never been there to try it at least once.

On a beautiful Sunday night in Phoenix, we enjoyed the sunset and some cake with friends.

What did I tell you about this little Pirate...Presley never stood a chance to enjoy her toys before bed with these two around.

So little did I know that...(A) 4 inch scorpions existed, and (B) that they preyed on small girls. This one truly darted at Presley, and tried to sabotage her very last moments of her birthday celebration. In a last minute effort to save her life, our poor friend sacrificed his clean sandal. YUCK!!

Why won't she stop growing? Never thought I would say those words. With Owen I could not wait for the next phase of life...always pushing him to do MORE. Now I just want the growing to stop! I want to package her at 12 months and keep her this way forever. Don't get me wrong... Pres has her bad days, where I wonder "who else could cry this much in one day"!!! But man those good days could melt your heart. She is a true joy, who loves to keeps us on our toes. Love you my Pres, Pres!

Disney: Round Two

We were able to visit Disneyland again. I know...our kids are officially spoiled! This time we had some friends join us, and it was so great! Having friends to enjoy this adventure with felt like a whole new experience. We were able to venture onto some of the adult rides (imagine that). Nothing really more to say, other than the trip was truly seamless. There wasn't one aspect of the trip I could think to change. Every day was filled with some hillarious, and special moments! No fits, no meltdowns, no fights, no kids getting sick, no sleepless nights, no complaints! Disney always delivers! Pres was gearing up for the trip at old navy...every girl needs some shades at Disney

It is safe to say all the planning, expense and hard work for this party was worth it. Owen had a blast, and loved having his friends over to play for an evening. Have you ever wanted to get your child excited for their birthday? I have the fool-proof tactic, take them to Albertsons, show them the demo birthday cake with their favorite Disney characters atop, and let them know, they can get one too...on their birthday! It is all I have heard about for 2 months! Also, if you have a great and talented sister, like I have, you could have her take a pre-birthday photos to celebrate the occasion! (I actually am using these fabulous photos for Owen's birthday invitations.) Thanx Jamie!

This upcoming birthday will be so special, seeing him recognize becoming a year older and wanting to celebrate it! I can't believe my BABY Owen is going to be 3. He is such a unique soul, and Mike and I have enjoyed getting to know every aspect of his special personality! Owen has been very intriguing to watch grow. It has been a slow process, but he has finally (over the past year) communicated to us who he is, what he loves, what he doesn't love, what makes him sad, and what makes him the happiest. Presley has been the total opposite! From the minute she was born, she made her presence known. She knew exactly who she was, and she was not afraid to let you know if she was or was not happy with something. I love that about her, but she has also made me appreciate the slow anticipation of getting to know Owen that much more. I love both of my babies for all that they are, and for the special individuals that they are becoming!

I hope that Owen feels special, and very loved on his upcoming birthday! We Love you Owen.

Where in the world is Liz?

First and foremost I have been busy with the kids....always busy with the kids! After our beloved trip to Disneyland, my mom came to stay in Phoenix for 3 weeks. I wish I had at least one photo with her while she was here, but she is not into photos and I am not into seeing myself with braces! That's right you heard me...BRACES. Yes, somewhere along this crazy month I did the deed in attempt to correct my snaggle tooth! In addition to braces, Mike and I celebrated 7 great years of marriage. We had a wonderful and relaxing getaway at the JW Marriott. It only lasted one special night but that was just enough to remember what it felt like before kids, feel refreshed....okay, and miss the kids too! And to top off the madness I have been doing nothing with my free time other than crafting. I took part in a Crafting Boutique Party, and was able to sell a ton a stuff!!! It was a nice feeling to contribute to society other than just being with my wonderful children all day. There you have it. My crazy month in a nutshell. I loved every minute of it! Here is my baby....already crawling!

I am totally excited! We are headed to the Land of Enchantment...yes us...with a 2 year old, and a 6 month old baby! Yikes, are we making a mistake? Well, I hope not. Owen is a Disney kid through and through. He loves Nemo, Little Mermaid, Monsters Inc., Princess and the Frog, and what else...CARS! It is difficult at times to get some real excitement out of this child, so if Disney can't do it then there is something wrong here :0

My issue is we have no clue where to start. Mike has never been there, and I was very young when I was there last. I don't want to waste 2 hours in a line of a ride that...well, SUCKS. So if anyone can lend some advice on where to head first, what not to miss, and what is worth waiting for, I would surely appreciate the pointers. Look for some upcoming pics.

Every afternoon we have been basking in the sun, and living up our views!! It's a great time to be in Arizona! The weather has been spectacular. I needed to document this feeling, cause come a few heated months from now I will be cursing the day we moved back!
So I recently got in touch with an old friend over our blogs. We were admiring our efforts in the crafting department! I got to thinking: why don't we do a bit of a craft exchange?? And what an exchange!! I LOVE my new fabric birds for my baby girls room!

I couldn't think of where to suspend them from, so I just placed them on some existing wall hangings! I think it is pretty genius myself.

I have been neglecting my updates of my little princess for far too long. Presley is growing like a weed! She weighs 17 pounds, she is eating like a champ, atempting to sit up, rolling over, and becoming very independant in her exersaucer! She is just such a joy! For example: Sometimes I get so mad when she won't just take a nap, then I go into her room to lay down the law...and she smiles ear to ear, and giggles...and I MELT! We are loving and embracing her changes, and can't wait for more!

I am really proud of myself!! I have not ventured to many places far from home, unless I have Mike with me. However, I did it. I made it to the zoo...in time...with friends...no disasters...kids had fun...didn't get lost on the way there...made it home alive!!!

Love my girl...I do, but this week has been very challenging. She has been refusing to eat, crying when I try to nurse her, and eventually skipping meals. I feel so rejected! No ear infection, not sick, and apparently not hungry. Has anyone else experienced this?? Is it just a faze? Oh well it's frustrating, but luckily I have pictures like this to remind me how special my little Presley is!

On to my man Owen. He on the other hand has been progressing leaps and bounds. About three weeks ago he really started embracing crafts. Coloring, painting, building blocks, counting...you name it he loves it. I would love to credit myself, but I must actually credit his montessori school we have put him in. He goes two days a week, and LOVES it. His speech has totally increased from about 10-15 words to 30-40. He is even putting two, to three words together! Lastly, I thought the day would never come but he is eating with a fork. He NEVER would allow us to help him eat with silverware, and now he is using them like a pro. Way to go, Owen!!!

I don't think I could love this peanut any more than I already do. I love Presley, because she is PURE JOY to my life. She makes me smile the minute she wakes up until the moment her beautiful eyes shut at night. We have been blessed with two children that my not be perfect for everyone, but they are perfect for us. It was like Heavenly Father hand picked these angels, and tailor made them just for Mike and I.

This one doesn't miss a meal, folks! I cannot believe how much she has filled out in the last couple months. She doubled her birth weight of 6 pounds 12 ounces by a month and a half.

This is her on the verge of a giggle. I have never seen baby so easy to make smile.

A new tradition

My whole family, excluding myself, ran a 5k in Anthem AZ on turkey day. It was really a great turn out...so I hear. I was actually quite sad I missed it! Everyone said it was a blast, and a real bonding time considering my father has been running marathons for years. It was a great opportunity to have the family to share something my dad has loved for years. Owen even took part in the kids race. My parents said everyone was screaming, and cheering little Owen through the finnish line.

Okay, I knew my baby girl was cute...it did take my sister's master photography skills to remind me 'how cute' she really is. She was simply the best girl today. Owie was a gracious big brother, and allowed us to spoil her with tons of attention.

We enjoyed a great visit with Mike's parents. We much needed the company and HELP. It has been hectic with two to say the least. The only time it's not hectic is when there is NO expectation to leave the house, or have completed any chores. I also must retract my last post regarding Owen adjusting well to the new baby...so not the case. Since that post he has tried to smother Presley with her blanket, he had clawed her face, and likes to steal her pacifier on a regular basis. I think he will get better with time!

Anyway, we enjoyed Thursday evening at the Glendale Pumpkin Patch. It was so fun. Halloween isn't really my thing, but it is growing on me the more I venture out to activities based around the holiday. So here are some pics!Typical scenario...Owen looking mischievous, baby crying!

Big Brother

Owen has done a phenomenal job of adjusting to a new sibling. He thinks Presley is so funny! He loves when she is suffering with the hiccups...nothing makes him laugh harder. Considering what he has been through these past weeks, his spirits are high and he has been a pleasure to be around. When I mention "what Owen has been through", I am referring to the poor kid battling some type of stomach flu for 2 weeks. Throwing up, diarrhea, the works. Then this past weekend he started showing signs of the swine flu. We took him into the emergency room, and we are still awaiting test results. They felt strongly enough to treat him as if he had it. Yikes! Why can't this time just be easy??? Mike and I are living separate lives right now. I am on our second floor with Presley, and Mike is living it up with the TV and kitchen downstairs with Owen. I know things will get better soon. Maybe this is giving us a reason to slow down, and really bond with Owen a Presley. Anyway, we'll keep you posted on those test results. Our big boy is loving being able to swing on his own now.
These two have become the best of friends while Mike has been off work...where ever dad is, Owen must fallow.

Owen has been enjoying the perks of a new baby in the house=new toys! For instance...my breast pump. He loves to pretend to pump just like mommy.

Story of the name...

I feel as though people are wanting a very interesting story as to why we chose to switch the baby's name to Presley. I'll give it my best shot...we had always been deciding between Presley, or Naomi. Naomi stuck because it was a little old fashioned, different, almost exotic. Then, wait, do we want our newborn to seem exotic?? I also felt a strong pressure to keep the name because I literally posted it on her bedroom walls! When we had doubts in the hospital we just started racking our brains for every name out there, and we kept coming back to Presley. It fits her! Luckily so because all we keep hearing is, "we didn't like Naomi much anyway." Thanks guys!

Saturday morning at 6:49am we welcomed Presley Elizabeth to our family. She came to us 3 weeks early, but still her weight was 6lbs 12 ounces. She is beautiful, healthy, sweet, and such a good eater!! We already have so much love for her, and she has only been with us for a day. We are just leaving the hospital, and are so excited for Owen to meet his baby sister. Thanks for all the support of family, and friends. Without you this would not have been such a smooth process.

This is my best friend from the 8th grade, Tracy. After looking for each other, and wondering about what the other was up to for YEARS we finally found each other on face book. Sometimes you question whether getting in touch with someone after so long is a good idea. Who knows they could be weird, or mass murderers...you never know. In this case it was a great decision, because she hasn't changed a bit!! She is the same great, free spirit that I remember. Our lives have taken an eerily similar path as well. We got married around the same time. She has a son the same age as Owen, and we are both expecting baby girls at the same time too. Creepy hun? Anyway, I thought this story worth inspiring someone else to try and find someone from your past!! This also may be my last belly shot until the baby comes, so I thought I would document it.

The Zoo and my belly

Mike, Owie, and I went to the zoo Saturday morning! The weather was perfect, and we had the best time. I guess they just installed a new splash pad, and it is amazing. We spent the majority of the time playing in the water. As requested here is the long awaited belly shot. I am 30 weeks, and the time has flown by. I am feeling gradually more tired, but overall pretty good!!Here is my stud muffin enjoying the sun!

Family Update

I have been gone from the blogging circuit for a bit, but I am back and the best word I can find to describe how I have been is BIG. Yep, everyday someone asks me if I am due soon. Or I get the very flattering, "boy you are about to pop." Unfortunately, I wish I could say I didn't have 2 and 1/2 months left to go...but I do! No complaints though, I have to say this pregnancy is going quite well. I haven't had any concerns, and I have felt well enough to continue my regular work outs. Speaking of working out, my advice to anyone who considers it during pregnancy...you should. When I am feeling completely drained of energy only two things have helped; a nap, and some exercise! So other than being pregnant, I am nesting in a very crafty way. I am currently getting Owen's new room together, and the baby's nursery completed. That sums me up.

Owen is doing great. He turned two this month, and is really turning into a boy. I say boy, because he felt like my 'baby' for so long. He has never talked much, but now he is starting to repeat words when he feels like it. I am just hoping that he is storing all of this vocabulary and information, and soon he's just going to let it pour out!! He is loving Thomas the Train, and anything Cars related. If you have ever wondered what to entertain your children with...sticker books are the key. He could spends hours with his stickers, and yes, they are ALL over the house.

On to Mike. There is never enough to say about Mikey. He is blossoming at work as always. His company is thriving, even through this economic crisis. We are very blessed!! Besides work, he has been running like a mad man! He has lost a lot of weight...in a healthy way...and now we weigh the same. I know, I want to die. As he finds he can't fit in certain clothes anymore he'll always ask if I want them. Thanks, but NO thanks! I have to say even for how busy Mike has been, he has really chipped in a ton a home. He does all the yard work, and any and ALL chores that I don't seem to finish. So with that, Mike is pretty much the man of the year!

That sums up how we have been. As soon as I get the kids rooms done I hope to post those soon!!

Get ready for a lot of pictures!!! We had a fantastic reunion with Mike's family up in Idaho, and Yellowstone. It was great to get away, and breathe some fresh air. It was just a very scenic, relaxing vacation and it was great to be with family that you don't get to see as often as you would like to. Rolled into these pictures are some during a couple days that we celebrated Owie's 2nd birthday. They sure grow up quick!!! We are so blessed to have him in our lives.

I am officially half-way complete with this pregnancy, and it has FLOWN by! We are getting so excited the closer it gets to her due date. Don't get me wrong, I am still nervous that I will forget everything it takes to care for a newborn!! Not to mention I am hoping Owen won't smother his little sister with his blanket. What?... you say!! Yes, Owen's idea of a fun play time is smothering Mike until he pretends he is dead. Great parenting, I know! So, once we overcome our small fears we are ready to welcome this little one into our home

My scare is that we have NO concrete girl names to consider. We refuse to say we got our daughter's name from a "baby name" book. We would prefer to say that we came up with something unique and amazing on our own but that is not going to happen either! So.... we would love ANY SUGGESTIONS ??? Can't wait.

We are still a little in shock, yet very EXCITED!! Mike and I were sure we were having another boy, but to our pleasant surprise we have learned otherwise. During the ultra sound we were concerned that the baby wouldn't move enough for us to see the necessary anatomy....and just then she does hand stand and spreads her legs as if to say "HELLO, I'm a girl". Did I mention we are excited????

Now they are playing cars, fighting over toys, hugging, calling each other by name, walking hand in hand to nursery, and yelling to each other during church, and playing until they are both tuckered out! These are my legs, getting fried in the sun! Mike made me endure a bike ride around this private Island, and then an 8 hour lay out session in the BLAZING HEAT.
This is by far the coolest people we met during the cruise. We ate dinner with them every night, and got the insight to the scandalous escapades going on after hours. When I mean after hours....I mean after hours. Every night their usual bedtime was 5:00am. Yikes, we were in bed by 8:30pm.

Wow, it's a good thing I lost these sunglasses on the cruise!

We loved all the extra activities to take our mind off Owen...like shopping. All I wanted was a sun hat. Unfortunately for me and my ant head, none of them fit.

It was overcast this day on the ship, so we took time to enjoy the amenities. Nothing like roof top golfing, overlooking the ocean!

This was a fun day. We had a full day on the boat, so they put together some "spring break" games on the top deck. Nothing like a hairy chest contest, dance contest, and some ice sculpture carvings to round out the day.

We had a great stop at Turks and Cacaos. We did some power snorkeling, and enjoyed a tour around the Island.

This trip was great, but I do not recommend leaving your children when they are as cute as Owen. You miss them too much!

Lastly, I just want to thank my mom. She flew all the way out from Ohio to watch Owen for a whole week. He had a blast with grandma, and we all really miss her. Thanks for all the love and care you gave our precious son.

Easter Visit

We had the great pleasure of Mike's brother, JJ, and his family coming to join us for a couple days before Easter. We stayed busy, until the torrential down pour we had on Saturday. Rain sure puts a damper on things!!! Other than that minor set back it was great having them for a visit.When you have 3 little girls invade your home, you are bound to find a dress on just about anyone.

I have to admit, I have never fallen off the blogging wagon this long. However, it's with good reason people...Mike and I have collectively decided, I think, to come out with our news that we are expecting another baby!! I have had great check ups, and I have been sufficiently SICK, so I think I am in the clear to announce the news. I am due Oct. 20th, and I am currently 13 weeks. We are really excited, and looking forward to creating a playmate for Owen.

Mike and I take off next week for our cruise to the Caribbean. I am just praying that I will be past this morning, afternoon, and evening sickness before Sunday. I have never been on a cruise, so I am not quite sure what to get excited for. If YOU have been on a cruise...what are the highlights???? I need to get myself excited, so I can get through one more week of throwing up on the porcelain thrown. Anyway, it's good to be back to share my news. Yes, these are Owen's first pair of girl jammies! They were too cute to pass up. I figured Owen was man enough to pull these off, and with a fist full of rocks there is no denying that this kid is all BOY!

We had a wonderful 9 day visit with Mike's parents. I think we all wondered how we were going to fill 9 days with events and activities. Surprisingly enough, we stayed quite busy and enjoyed every minute. I truthfully could have had them stay 20 days, and it still wouldn't have felt like enough! Thanks for the visit. Owen thought he'd take the liberty of waking up grandpa at the park.
We had a picnic and enjoyed a train ride around Anthem Park.

General Household Adventures

December is AlWAYS busy...twice as busy when you have a toddler. We have been enjoying getting things ready for the holiday season, and for Mike's parents who are joining us this Christmas and New Years. I listed my New Year's resolutions last year...but I am not going to bore you this year. I am simply going to inform you that I have already begun the changes that I want to see results for in 2009. I can actually say I am committing to a resolution!!!! Anyway, Christmas was a success, but we really missed spending it with ALL of our family and friends. However, we hope your holidays were as much of a hit as they were for us.

Owen absolutely loved this present. It is Velcro fruit, and a fake knife so he can learn how to chop food like the pros. I tried to get Owen a kitchen...but daddy thinks only 'girls' should have a kitchen...so I had to compromise with the fruit and a shopping cart. Who says a man can't cook, dad???Strangely enough my son loves to hide in nooks around the house until we find him, and then at that time he loves to strike a pose!

We had the great pleasure of my parents coming to Phoenix for Thanksgiving. It was so great to have them here. My Mom and Dad are the true definition of what parents should be. They are caring, selfless, patient, and they have always and will always put their children first. We had a fantastic visit, and it was really tough to see them go. I have never enjoyed Owen as much as I am enjoying him now! It is such an amazing thing to watch your 'baby boy' grow into their personality, and show you glimpses of who they are about to become. He is such a sweet boy, always happy and laughing. Yet also serious, curious, and reflective. I never thought my love for Owen could blossom to this degree!! I am just loving this age, and I felt it important to document it so I can reflect on this when I do have those rare bad days. My mom really put it best when she said, "Liz, can we duct tape Owen up to keep him this size forever?". Don't I wish!

Due to a broken camera...I am reduced to mooching family photos. I may not have much to post until this camera situation is solved ie NEED A NEW CAMERA (hint, hint).

Anyway, These photos are from our trip to Portland. Mike's brother and sister currently live there, and we haven't been there in a couple years. No better time to visit than during their beautiful fall season. We had a wonderful time, and as you can see we stayed quite busy!

We spent last night out with our friends Amy and Tony. With them having twins, and us having Owen you can imagine that getting together without the kiddos is quite a feat! We had so much fun, and it was nice to have some stimulating adult conversation with two very intelligent and funny people. If you haven't eaten at the White Chocolate Grill, you are surely missing out. They have the most delicious white chocolate brownie for dessert!

Albuquerque

We were able to visit Albuquerque a couple weekends ago. This was my first time going back since our move in January. We made the trip back to visit our dear friend's new baby girl, Emery. She is SOOO beautiful! I had to steal some pictures from her blog for you all to enjoy! Loved meeting her, and seeing our "Albuquerque Family"!

We also had the pleasure of revisiting our first home. It was uh...interesting! I thought for sure I would want to pack up and move right back to our starter home, until I realized that we lived in the freaking ghetto. Why did we not see the signs when their was a drive by shooting across the street, or the woman who came to my door in the middle of the night to tell me her boyfriend tried to kill her. We were blinded by the sanctuary we created on the inside...trying to forget the chaos on the outside. So to all our friends and family who came to visit, and never suggested that we get the heck out of that neighborhood...feel lucky that we are still alive!Meagan and Liz pre-children! Not sure why I thought it was okay for my tummy to be showing.

So I guess I'm not really on a blog strike any longer...just not much to blog about I guess. Well... we are in the process of getting a back splash installed in our kitchen!!!! Soooo excited for that to happen. Many of you have wondered how a back splash can possibly come before completing our back yard. To answer your question: 1) it's cheaper 2) I would like to see our inside complete before we work on the outside 3) Owen is in that "I want to touch, eat, and play with rock" stage. So even if we put some grass in our back yard...he will naturally gravitate towards the rock anyway! I will update my blog with pictures HOPEFULLY next week when it's completed. Other than that, we are just getting through a month of Mike traveling for work as well as gearing up for some great vacations.

Here's the run down of our future travels and visitors:
*San Diego in two weeks with some friends.
*Portland (for Halloween) in 4 weeks to visit Mike's brother and sister.
*My parents here for Thanksgiving.

Sorry for making you stare at the same post for several weeks. We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Coeur d'Alene, ID, and Canada. We spent 10 shorts days with Mike's family, and it was heaven. Our days consisted of great food, good company, picking raspberries, swimming, and loads of entertainment. I put together a small montage of our trip, I hope you enjoy!

This is a celebration picture of sorts. Let me explain...Mike neglected to check the date of expiration on his passport before entering Canada. (Yes, it was expired) After a four hour drive, we would have NOT been happy to pack up and head back to his parents house. Luckily, we have some fine men working for our government and they also neglected TWICE to catch the expiration date. And so, this is us celebrating that we made it past the border!

If it was legal to drive at 12 months this kid would have already have several tickets!

Week Happenings...

Shall we start with the good?? Mike had the opportunity to visit with some of our dear friends in Albuquerque, Brittany & Steve. We were practically inseparable for a time, so it was so good for him to see them again. We are hoping to have them out for Labor Day Weekend to show them around our neck of the woods. They were so kind to give Owen the most ADORABLE birthday gift, of which we had to document.... Thank you, Duncans!

Continuing onto the good...

Mike and I shared a quick, but wonderful date on Saturday night. We ate at Tommy Bahamas, walked around Kierland Commons, and shared some good memories of our dating history. I can see why dating is SO important after kids. Our conversations usually consist of poopy diapers, bath time, and friendly banter of who's day was more difficult (mine,with Owen. or Mike's, with work). You almost start dedicating your date night conversation to the same topics, until you loosen up and focus on each other. It was WONDERFUL!

Now moving forward to the bad...

We have a few roommates in the house who are not paying rent, and continue to abuse their stay in our home. We will just call them Mr. and Mrs. Scorpion, and their extended family. They have taken up residents in some of the most unusual places. For example:

Mike's shorts!! Let me narrate this photo for you! Mike puts on shorts. Mike feels a painful poke on his butt. Mike gets scared. Mike feels another poke on his leg. Mike sheds a tear. Liz says, "Mike, take off you shorts already. It's obviously Mr. Scorpion!" Mike takes shorts off, and out comes this:

I am not sure why, but Owen is loving our CD of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing show toons. He seems to only want to dance the track number 2 on the CD. We can always count on him crawling over to the stereo and dancing away to his favorite JAM!

Okay, so I did go a little crazy with the presents for Owen's birthday. So what came of all the overly expensive birthday gifts....a million toys that Owen over looked to play with our $3.00 home accessory. Go figure!
Well he did enjoy a ride with Elmo, on his bouncing zebra!!

So this really should have been our son smothered in frosting from his first taste of pure sugary, birthday cake! Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it! This in fact was our son at his birthday party.....

Thanks to uncle Jason Owen did squeeze in a little cat nap.

Never thought I could get Amy to conquer a day at the pool with two curious, newly walking, untrained swimming twins...but she did it, and the party would not have been the same without her!

For those of you who are HUGE fans of Disneyland...you are in the presence of Cinderella aka(Becky). No joke...a real princess from Disneyland!! I had to pay her to show up, but she refused to ware the costume :)

This is my brother in law, Jason. And my very talented Cello playing, singing sensation niece, Maddison.

Taylor, where have you been? She was swimming laps...laps in 100 degree weather, while everyone ran for the shade with a plate full of cookies.

We spent the holiday with Mike's brother, JJ, and his family in Denver. We had SUCH A GOOD TIME. They really know how to entertain. They kept everyday packed with something fun. We spent one day at the Denver Zoo...AMAZING. Almost all the animals were within reach, or easy to see. We occupied the rest of our time with BBQing, jumping on the trampoline, eating out, and swimming. If you haven't been to Denver, I would highly recommend it! Owen's first Popsicle...and last!

No need to thank me...I have done the research for you, and I now present you with the key to making all your food making dreams come true! (Although...I have been recently informed that this recipe has been in circulation for quite some time, and me adding this to my posts is sooo last season.)

Café Rio Dressing

1 buttermilk ranch dressing packet (make as per recipe)
2 tomatillos (tomato like vegetable with a husk around them)
½ bunch of cilantro
1 clove garlic
Juice of 1 lime
1 jalapeno (Use the seeds too if you like it spicy. You could substitute a few drops of green Tabasco for the jalapeno.)

Use a food processor to blend all the ingredients well. Refrigerate

Almost a year!

I cannot believe my 'baby Owen' will be a year next month! It's odd... it seems like he has been with us more than a year, yet time with him has gone sooo fast.

He is such a wonderful child, always has been. He is just very content, very thoughtful, and curious about his surroundings. I'll always have my general complaints, you know...not sleeping through the night, resistant to stop nursing, his constant neediness. Beyond those SMALL complaints, he is wonderful and I know without a doubt that he was designed for me and my needs as a mother. As he gets older it is so fun to see him laugh, and love life. Take yesterday for instance...I was on my deathbed and throwing up everything I was eating or drinking. Well, Owen crawls into the bathroom and pulls himself up to the toilet as I am puking my brains out. I was so nervous that he would be scared, but instead he just laughs and laughs as if my throwing up was an attempt to entertain him. In that moment, I realized what a wonderful companion I have. Someone who can cheer me up even when I am at my worst. I love him, and cannot imagine a world without Owen in it.

I am so excited to start getting Owen some toys he can ride, but his one year birthday is right around the corner...so I must curb the excitement for another month!!

Tomorrow we celebrate our 5 year Anniversary together, and I could not feel more grateful to have him in my life!

I nag this man 7 days a week about ANYTHING, and he still loves me. He comes home from a long day to find me un-showered for the second day in a row, and he still loves me. At the end of the week I have depleted our son's college tuition, and he still loves me. I don't clean as often as I should, and he still loves me. I don't laugh at his jokes anymore (too tired), and he still loves me. We have been married for five years, and he still loves me....THANK YOU!

This week has been hectic to say the least. Owen had one tooth already visible, but poor guy is sprouting THREE more. I know he is in so much pain...eating, sleeping, and everything else that was on track is now sacrificing regularity due to this teething bout. Besides that, he as decided he was sick of sitting still! Owen is crawling, and attempting to walk. Hello change...goodbye 'baby' Owen!This is 'happy' Owen before the teething began.

My favorite part of the weekend...when it hits 5:00pm and Mike is DONE with work.
I told you I would muster up some pictures of Mike and I. (why does my son have a better tan than I do??)

We took baby Owen swimming on Saturday! He loved it...such a relief because it seems to be the only free entertainment these days.

My Aunt Cindy came in town ALL the way from Ohio. She is so warm and friendly, and just a joy to have around. I hope she doesn't mind me saying, but can you believe she is in her 50's. AMAZING!

On a day like this how could you not want to take a bath outside, right Owen?

Obviously we have a little work to do in the backyard. Luckily we have a wonderful view to distract us from the lack of yard.

I have been 'tagged' to contribute 7 random facts about myself. I'm supposed to tag others as well, but that seems rather time consuming...so anyone who reads my blog, assume you have been 'tagged' also to post 7 random facts about yourself on your blog.

1.) It takes me up to 2 hours to get ready.

2.) Growing up, I used to ask for liver and onions as my birthday dinner.

3.) I often fantasize that I am a professional dancer. For some reason, in my fantasy, my big dance solo always takes place in ward talent show.

4.) In every friendship Mike and I have shared with a couple, I have ALWAYS identified more with the husbands. (It must be my lack of attention to detail, or the inability to clean!)

Mike is convinced that if I keep posting pictures of our house, stranger danger is going to come rob our stuff. Never mind that there are naked pictures of our son in the bath tub...never thought to wonder if someone might rob him (j/k mikey).

About a month ago we had the rare opportunity to have Mike's brother, and his family visit for a few days from Oregon. This was Owen's first chance to meet Kim and Travis, and his precious cousin Benjamin. Can you believe they are only a week apart? Quite the size difference....what are you feeding him Kim??

I am officially TIRED of all Owie's toys...I can only assume he feels the same way! Luckily we had dad on hand to get creative with his toy basket, a string of packing tape, and an old familiar tune of "She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain"! 4 trips around the house put us all down for a nap time.
